About U of L Libraries’ Think Tank Forum

This site is an internal forum Website for the University of Louisville Libraries (to be launched on 5/1/2008.) It is used for collecting ideas about the Libraries’ strategic planning. Each library full time employee has an login to the system. Once logged in, users can anonymously add comments to the ten forum topics. When the forum is closed, comments will be exported for further planning process.

System Features
• URL: (The site is no longer in use)
• Password management: Request new password allows user to obtain a new password via the registered email anytime
• User protection: User’s true identity is hidden from the public, but user can create an alternate login name for easy use
• Comments export: comments can be exported

Application Software and Project Implementation
This system was designed and implemented by Weiling Liu (University of Louisville.) The site server is sponsored by ITRT (http://kla-itrt.org) and powered by Drupal (version 5.3) (http://drupal.org,) an Open Source module-based content management system (CMS.) In addition to the core modules, some add-on contributed modules are used (see list below.) The theme is customized from jwolf’s barron ( http://drupal.org/node/134962)

Module Name/ – Descriptions
content_access/ – set access control by roles or page
importexport/ – import or export nodes or comments, etc.
login_destination/ – define a specific page for user after login
node_clone/ – makes it easier for site manager to copy a node
pathauto/ – define url alias by content type or category
user_import/ – makes it easier to create accounts for a group of people
userprotect/ – better secure user accounts, and define what information in the account a user can change (e.g. password, email or username)
views/ – needed for some other modules
